FAQ

Rund um Show & Besuch

EXCELSIS is an audiovisual experience for the whole family – whether you’re coming with children or simply love culture, art and technology. Children aged 5 and over are very welcome, and there’s a reduced child ticket for ages 5 to 12.

Please note that children under 5 cannot be admitted. The darkness, shifting light and immersive sound are simply too intense for little ones.

The show itself lasts around 30 minutes. Including entry and exit, we recommend allowing 50 to 60 minutes for your visit.

Yes – you’ll be seated in the Münster’s historic pews.
Good to know: Seating within your time slot is unreserved, so you’re free to choose your spot.

We recommend arriving around 20 minutes before your time slot, so everyone can make their way into the Liebfrauenmünster without a rush.

The show features modern projections, intense lighting changes and strobe effects. We therefore advise against attending if you have photosensitive epilepsy or are highly sensitive to light.

No. EXCELSIS is a non-denominational art and cultural experience that opens up the extraordinary architecture of the Münster to everyone.

Immersive, room-filling sound and dynamic lighting are very much part of the experience. If you’re sensitive to light or easily overstimulated, please be prepared for strong changes in brightness.

The show is fully automated and runs without a break. Once the doors have closed, we’re unable to admit latecomers – both for safety reasons and so as not to disturb other guests.
Please note: If you miss your time slot, your ticket can no longer be used.

There are several car parks just a short walk away:

  • Parkhaus Münster
Right next to the venue (approx. 1 min walk)
  • Tiefgarage Theater West/Ost
    Approx. 5–7 min walk
  • Tiefgarage Schloss
    Approx. 8–10 min walk

Yes, as long as there are still seats available for your chosen time slot. You can buy any remaining tickets quickly and easily at our digital ticket kiosk on site.

Important: The kiosk is cashless only – please pay by debit/credit card or contactless via smartphone (Apple Pay, Google Pay). We are unable to accept cash.

Our tip: Capacity is strictly limited and shows can sell out fast, so we highly recommend booking online in advance.

At the Münster & Accessibility

There are no public toilets inside the historic church. We recommend using the facilities at one of the nearby car parks beforehand, such as Parkhaus Münster right next door.

Yes. The Liebfrauenmünster offers step-free access via the Bergbräustraße entrance, and dedicated spaces are reserved for wheelchair users and their companions.

No, there is no cloakroom and there are no lockers on site. Please keep your coat and belongings with you at your seat.

To ensure everyone’s safety and protect this historic sacred space, only small bags and handbags up to A4 size (approx. 21 × 30 cm) are permitted.

Not allowed: Large rucksacks, holdalls, suitcases and other bulky items. As there’s no cloakroom, we’re unable to store them for you either.

On arrival: Our security team will carry out bag checks at the entrance. Please travel light, have your bag open and ready, and allow a few extra minutes so we can get everyone inside smoothly.

The Münster is a late Gothic church and isn’t fully heated. Please dress for the weather outside – when in doubt, wrap up warm.

No – food and drink are not permitted anywhere inside the Liebfrauenmünster. Thank you for helping us treat this historic sacred space with the respect it deserves.

We’re sorry, but pets are not permitted inside the Liebfrauenmünster. Certified assistance dogs and guide dogs are, of course, very welcome.

Please note: Please bring the relevant certification with you.

Yes. The Liebfrauenmünster remains an active place of worship, and all EXCELSIS show times have been carefully scheduled around the parish’s services and liturgical calendar.

Absolutely – personal photos and smartphone videos without flash are more than welcome. Share your impressions on social media and don’t forget to tag us in your posts and stories! Out of consideration for other guests, tripods, gimbals, selfie sticks and professional video equipment are not permitted.
